Jake was sitting on the couch, cuddling next to me. He took his hand and ran it down my face and said, "Gorgeous." MAN, I love that kid.

santa and the accident

I asked Jake what he was going to do when he gets big. He said, “I’m going to be Santa.” When I asked him what Santa does all year he said, “Santa takes the garbage and puts it into the machine and then out come the toys.” Cool machine. But he has decided will still go to pre-school.

Leia says when she gets big she will rescue animals.

When I asked Jake why he overturned all the furniture in the backyard, he said, “Well, I’m having a rough day.”

Jake was next door at the Wilsons’. When he came home, I discovered that he had had an accident. While I was cleaning him up I asked (with frustration) why he didn’t feel it or smell it? He said, “Well, something in Matt’s room smelled bad. Maybe it was my butt.” Hmmm. Ya think? Then I asked if he had pooped in the hot tub. He said, “No, I pooped in Megan’s room and Matt’s room and the kitchen, but not in the hot tub.” Great. Well, small favors and all that.

Carrie and Kids Visit the New Office

My company moved to a new office in Long Beach on May 1. It is on the 18th floor overlooking the coastline with stunning views. The office is about 3 times the size of the old office; we are growing.

As usual, everyone gushed over those cute kids. Jake is spastic as ever, and Leia is showing that attitude about how cute she is. After they viewed the office, we went down to Kings fish house and viewed some exciting lobsters and crabs. We also had dinner.

The daily events

Spent a bit of time with the kids, although it was mostly a work day. Got a bunch done after the big holiday workday, but who really cares.

This morning Jake played as a bear, and Leia was a reindeer. We went out in front and they played basketball while we waited for Lindsay acting as the animals. Leia kept "bucking" me if I did not pass the ball to her.

Got home about 7:20, and wrestled with the kids for a bit. It was a nice thing to do, after all, I don't see them much during the day. Jake was wild, wild. Leia ran around the house at my prompting yelling "naked time, naked time" while, well, naked. Good times.

Laguna

Carrie and I returned today from a birthday getaway to Laguna Beach. The kids stayed with Sheri last night.

We stayed at the Casa Laguna B&B: great experience. Very nice people running it, and nice people staying there as well. Maddie had a great time meeting a lot of people so it was a great vacation for her as well.

Went for a couple of walks down to the beach. Weather was ideal, so the beach was nice. Maddie was thrilled about being out there, but not about having to stay on a leash. She really does well, romping and digging. Wish we could do it more often for her. Today the trip to the beach was excellent, with everyone leaving and Maddie able to run around some.

Last night went out to Bounce, a gay bar, which was a lot of fun. Very friendly guys there, and the drinks were good. Met some guys that knew Maui pretty well, so that was cool. After that, went next door to a restaurant called French 75. Food was excellent and (rats, I just realized that we forgot the leftovers!!!) service was good. Had a nice time, and got a little tipsy.

Today, we visited the Montage Resort to look around a bit, and had lunch. Not a stellar experience, but cool nonetheless, with great views of the coast and Catalina island.
